CARA Inaugural Executive Director is Manuela Moscoso. Originally from Ecuador, her work and research focuses on artistic production that can articulate present endeavors, interrogating a linear history and univocal perspectives. Inspired by non-western forms of thinking, Moscoso is currently researching different understandings of embodiment, porosity, kinship, and digestion as a way to challenge Western conceptions of existence. Prior to her leadership role with CARA, Manuela served as Curator of the 2021 Liverpool Biennial and Senior Curator at Museo Tamayo in Mexico City.

“CARA aspires to work in alliance with a plurality of movements that have advocated for communities that are colonized, gendered, and racialized. Our institutional practice will honor these movements and the critical frameworks they’ve established through listening and care. It is a joy to be leading CARA and joining a community of thinkers committed to a more just world.” – Manuela Moscoso
